While Page Experience is not a ranking system, it does serve as a ranking signal.

    SEO News April 29, 2023

According to Danny Sullivan, Google’s Search Liaison, the page experience update is not considered a ranking system but is still a ranking signal. This means that the removal of page experience as a ranking system does not affect the rewarding of pages that provide a good page experience by Google.

What has changed is that Google removed several ranking systems from its page, including the page experience, mobile-friendly, page speed, and secure site systems. However, page experience will continue to be a ranking signal, not a system. So, although page experience signals may have been downplayed as an overall ranking system, they are still essential to rank well on Google.

To clarify this issue, Sullivan emphasized that Google’s core ranking systems look to reward content that provides a good page experience, indicating that page experience is a critical factor in website ranking. Therefore, it is crucial to offer an outstanding page experience to users, whether or not it is a ranking signal.

So, instead of obsessing over scoring 100s across all Core Web Vitals metrics, focus on providing outstanding content that helps users. Make sure your website outperforms your competitors in terms of quality content and provides positive user experiences on both desktop and mobile sites. Regardless of the strength of the ranking signal, your website’s success relies on providing an excellent user experience.
