Elon Musk has announced that Linda Yaccarino will be the next CEO of Twitter. Yaccarino will “focus primarily on business operations,” while Musk will focus on product design and new technology. Musk tweeted that he looks forward to working with Yaccarino to transform the platform into X, the everything app.
Twitter is technically no longer a company and is officially known as X Corp, but it is unclear what the X platform will entail.
Why should we care? Under Musk’s leadership, Twitter has experienced some complications. It will be interesting to see whether a new CEO can help repair some of the damage done and attract back advertisers, marketers, and brands.
Yaccarino was most recently the chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal Media and had been at NBC for more than 11 years in various roles.
When Yaccarino last tweeted on May 10, she had 7,187 followers. Shortly after Musk’s announcement, she began gaining hundreds of followers per minute, and she currently has more than 150,000 followers.
