Google Confirms Issue with Indexing Content from News Publishers

Google has acknowledged a problem with indexing and surfacing content from news publishers in Google News. The issue has led to a decrease in traffic from Google News. Google is actively working to resolve this issue.

According to a statement posted in the Google Search status report, Google said, “There’s an ongoing issue with indexing in Google News that’s affecting all sites. Sites may be experiencing a decrease in traffic from Google News. We’re working on identifying the root cause. Next update will be within 24 hours.”

Publishers are reporting significant traffic problems with Google News. For more details, you can refer to this Google News Publisher help thread.

If your website is listed on Google News and you have noticed a drop in traffic recently, it could be due to this indexing bug. Google is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution.

    Why is This Important?

If your website relies on traffic from Google News, this issue can have a significant impact on your traffic and visibility. By understanding the root cause of the problem, you can take appropriate measures to mitigate its effects.
